Hello DEGS and Happy New Year, We finished out a difficult 2020 shooting season on December 19. Chris Kurek was the overall match winner shooting 271-2X. Dewey Hales placed first in both the As-Issued and Unlimited Modern Military. For a full list of scores please see below.

Our November match was held on November 21st at Paradise Outdoors. Taking top honors in the Garand Match was Tony Simonetti shooting a 283-6X, while Dewey Hales took top honors in both the As Issued and Unlimited Modern Military categories. Full results can be found below.

We had a small turnout for our October match last weekend but the competition was tight. Chris Hymen took top honors in the modern military category with a score of 278-4X and Chris Kurek took top honors in the Garand match with a score of 264-0X. For a full listing of scores, see below.

If you take a close look at the match results below, you'll notice a couple of interesting things. First of all, you'll see that we had nine shooters on Saturday, and given all the rain and nasty weather we've had lately, that was a great turnout. We were expecting the range to be very muddy, but as it turned out, it wasn't bad at all.

Next, and more importantly, you'll see that the scores between first and second place are separated by exactly 1 X. If you've ever looked at the SR-1 targets we use, you know that the X-ring is not much bigger than a quarter, so that is not an easy shot at 100 yards with an M1 Garand. So congratulations go to Chris Hymen for his score of 278.04 to win the GSM category.
