We were able to get in our second match of the season last weekend with Dewey Hales taking top honors with the Garand shooting 287-6X. We were finally able to get our first match of the season in on June 20. It was a bittersweet match as we said hello to everyone, commemorated one of the founders of DEGS, John Wallace, and said goodbye to Richard Martinez who is transferring to Quantico as he furthers his Marine Corps career.

Our overall match winner was Joe McMillian who turned in an impressive 289-4X. His score surpassed all other competitors with the Garand as he earned the 2020 John Wallace memorial cup. Jason Cisarano turned in the high score in the as-issued modern military category with 273-3X. Dewey Hales took top honors in the unlimited modern military class with a 290-7X. We ended the 2019 shooting season on December 21st with our final two matches. We welcomed new shooter Curtis Davis to his first match and hope to see him on the firing line next season. Taking top honors this month with his 1903A3 Springfield was Richard Martinez who scored 290-6X. Dewey Hales scored 286-4X for the top honors in the Modern Military class. Our September match was held on the 21st and it turned out to be a great day for shooting as the weather moderated and provided near perfect conditions. We welcomed two new shooters, Chris Marsh and Luis Batista, who got their feet wet with the Garand match course of fire. Richard Martinez took top honors with the Garand shooting 285-8X while Chris Hymen and Dewey Hales took the top spots for Modern Military and Unlimited Modern Military shooting 269-4X and 290-10X in their respective categories.
